Touch Screen Interfaces - Why You Need a New Just-About-Anything

Now that the holiday shopping season is over, it's a good time to start thinking about what you would like for yourself! Hopefully you got what you wanted for the holidays as gifts that you received, but if not, getting a new version of your favorite electronic device gives you the opportunity to have another touch-screen enabled device. If you don't have one yet, your limited experience can go way beyond the interface at the ATM.

Just about any electronic device you buy that costs more than one hundred dollars has an enhanced version with a touch-screen enabled display. This isn't true in all cases, but for a little more, or as a primary feature, your new cell phone, PDA, GPS, or even watch could be operated by touching menu selections visible on screen. The other day I helped a friend set up a new printer, and this basic Hewlett Packard model had a touchscreen display. It made configuration much easier, and I believe allowed for more set up options--ones that would not be intuitive to use as part of an LCD display.

When buying a GPS, or global positioning system device, make sure that it is touch-screen capable. In some cases, these are even voice activated. The art of the user interface is certainly never better right now, but that is the constant goal: Make the interface so good that eventually the user isn't really aware that it is there. When you compare LCD displays and menu systems that were the common interface for the last couple decades, the ease-of-use of touch-screen is unparalleled only by interfaces of the future that we do not yet have. As I mentioned previously, setting up my friends printer was so much easier, and allowed for what seemed to be more options.

The last time I set up a printer, it was my own, a Brother model that did not have a touchscreen display. When compared to the HP model, setup took much longer and I made far more mistakes. The first thing to learn was which buttons operated the menu. Just like a remote control without a touch-screen display. I am very glad that those days are nearly over. It's just a matter of replacing everything without a TSS! Click here to see some great touch screen devices.

Apple iPod Touch Is Multi-Touch Screen Technology

Apple continues its triumph in the electronic market with the launch of iPod touch. As always, the latest product coming out from the home of Apple succeeds in maintaining the goodwill. It was in 1997, with the launch of iPods, Apple created a revolution for the first time in the world of electronics. iPods succeeded in completely sweeping the world of music devices, which resulted in creating a world record in its sales in the continents of America and Europe for a continuous decade. To repeat the triumph, Apple is back again with iPod touch, the latest version of iPods.

The most attractive feature of iPod touch is the ability to download music straight from iTunes. It is possible too easily with the help of Wi-Fi devices. The iPod touch comes with a gorgeous 3.5 inch widescreen display hat will help in watching movies, and TV shows. The bright high quality screen brings out the images alive with bright, vivid colour on the 320 by 480 pixel display.

Another important feature is the revolutionary multi-touch interface. The iPod touch carries the same multi-touch screen technology that was followed by iPhone. It is possible to zoom in on a photo. Also the user can scroll through the songs and videos with a flick.

The next question that automatically crops up is about the contents in the iPod touch box. The box carrying iPod touch comes along with earphones, USB2.0 cable, dock adapter, polishing cloth and stand. It also carries a stand and a quick start guide that makes it much helpful for the user.

What all may require for the working of an iPod touch. Like the old iPods from Apple, this also requires a USB 2.0 port, iTunes 7.4 and internet connection. It would be better, if the connection is broadband. So why wait now? Own the iPod Touch as soon as possible to own the best technology available.

The Simplest Way to Install a Touch Screen Monitor in Your Car

A few years ago, installing a touch screen monitor in your car was something you either saw in the movies or on those wacky, tricked out cars built especially for science fairs. Now nearly all of the newer cars come with them factory installed or at least they can be installed aftermarket quite easily. Through these monitors, drivers can program their GPS navigational system, control their Bluetooth, and set all of their stereo channels all with the tap of your fingertip.

There are a few different ways to have these put in your car too. The most common two are either an in-dash setup keeps the factory look of the car. Then there is the set up which uses a motorized panel frame to fold out of the dash and then in an upward and visible position. Here is a step by step breakdown of how you can install a touch screen monitor system into your car on you own.
  • The first thing you’ll need to do is take a look at your car’s dashboard and figure out if it has a double DIN setup or the single DIN setup. It’s pretty easy to spot if you know what you are looking for. The double DIN setup for your car’s dashboard will allow you to mount a touch screen monitor system which lies flush with the dash. A single DIN setup will not allow this and require you to install a monitor that flips up.
  • Make sure you have all the right tools to go along with the installation kit and wiring harness you should have previously purchased. Any place that sells car audio systems or offers installation services will have these for sale. If your vehicle does have an installation kit made for it, then roll up your sleeves because you have some work ahead of you in the form of alterations to your dash.
  • Now you’ll need to get underneath the car’s hood to disconnect the battery cables from the battery. You’ll again need the right size tools to take care of this.
  • Take the old head unit out. Depending on the make of the car, you’ll probably need to remove a few of the dash panels to do this. The old head unit will be held in there with mounting screws. Take these out and the stereo should slide right out of the dash. Once out, disconnect all of the wires and the antenna from it.

  • Now that you have all the old equipment out of the car, start install all of the new hardware and the touch screen with the installation kit. Seat it securely into the kit so it won't slide out and possibly break.

  • Now that the monitor is all set to go in the installation kit and ready to be put back into the dash, connect all the car’s wires to the preinstalled wiring harness which should already be attached to the touch screen monitor. Connect the audio/video cable to the monitor and always check the user manual if you aren’t sure where it goes.

  • Ok. You’re all wired up and ready to go. Now you need to install the monitor back into the dashboard. Of all the steps this is the easiest since it’s almost the last one. Secure into the car by tightening all of the screws and replace the dash panels once you’ve finished doing that.

  • Reconnect the battery cables back up and start up the car to test out the monitor. If everything went smoothly during the installation, the screen should light up.

Complete Touch Screen Mobile Phone Lg Ke850 Prada

The LG KE850 PRADA is the first mobile phone to be completely touch screen operated. A combination of stunning catwalk design from PRADA and cutting edge mobile technology from LG. This one of a kind beauty boasts advanced touch screen technology, huge display, innovative ring tones and enough optional accessories to comfort your every whim.

Menus on the LG KE850 PRADA phone are kept nice and simple, without long lists of options or settings that would stymie fingers. The phone itself has a few hardware buttons, including "send" and "end" keys, camera and volume controls, and an unlock key.

In LG KE850 PRADA Black, there is a port for power adapters or the included headphone adapter and remote control, but the microSD slot is hidden beneath the battery.

The PRADA Phone by LG (KE850) is a real breakthrough in the industry, as it is a unique, sophisticated and elegant mobile phone with the first complete advanced touch interface. PRADA’s involvement extends beyond exterior aesthetics to the key elements of the user experience such as the advanced touch interface, ring tones, pre-loaded content, mobile phone accessories and the exclusive leather case, inspired by the classic Italian craftsmen tradition.

For typing on the LG KE850 Prada Black phone, LG made an interesting choice. Instead of designing a new keypad, like Apple did with the iPhone, or simply using a tiny popup, as HTC did with the Touch, LG instead opts for a 12-digit numeric pad, just like you'd find on your hardware phone. Predictive T9 input helps things a little, and LG tried to take advantage of the touch screen on T9 word selection, with mixed results

In the camera, which boasts a Schneider Kreuznach lens, takes much better pictures, more consistently. After you press the shutter release, the phone autofocuses, a feature which works well, but we prefer a half-step shutter release, like we saw on the Nokia N95. Pictures look very good, sharp even at 2-megapixels, with generally accurate colors and white balance. Side by side, the same shots looked better on the Prada than the iPhone. Also, the camera allows for video recording at a sort of widescreen QVGA-like resolution.
